Kitlocker changed the URL for our club shop without telling us.

The link I posted last night has been confirmed as correct.

Just for a bit of fun, I will shortly be starting a “caption competition”. Read on for more details…

Each week, I will post a volleyball-related photo and it’s up to you to put what you think is the best caption. To add a caption, leave a comment with your name and I’ll publish them as I see them come in.

There is no official prize, but I may be able to find something small for the wittiest one over the next few months…

Weekend preview 20/2

All three teams have downtime this weekend. Next games are below….

BVA Ladies: Sunday 27th Feb, 12:00 @ Kendrick School. Maidenhead are the home team and we play Basingstoke first, Maidenhead second and referee third.

NVL Ladies: Sunday 6th March, 11:30 @ Tendring Technology College (it’s somewhere in Essex). This is a standard NVL single match.

BVA Men: Sunday 13th March, 17:00 @ Headington School, Oxford. Aces are first up vs Basingstoke Lions, then against Oxford and refereeing the last match.

NVL Ladies are preparing for their important triangular game (Bristol 1 vs Oxford Students vs Reading Aces 1) tomorrow. Oxford Students is just behind Reading Aces with one game in “hand”… When: Sunday, 6th Feb at 11.30 am, Where: Clifton College SC, Guthrie Rd, Bristol, BS8 3EZ. BVA training – Tuesday nights

Just a reminder that BVA training on Tuesday nights are for team members and by invitation only. If you are unsure if you are invited, men please ask Dave Fox or Christine Brown and ladies and juniors ask Claire Stent.

Club night on Mondays at Kendrick school are for all members.

Social event: Watch London Irish sweat it

Fancy watching someone else do the hard work for a change? Well, you have two choices. Read on…We are currently planning a trip to London Irish (Reading’s resident Rugby Union team). Irish are currently mid-table in the Premiership and looking to get back on a winning track.

If you want to watch London Irish, there are games at the Madejski Stadium on 12 Feb vs Newcastle (12:30 start!) and 26 Feb vs Harlequins (3pm start). Tickets for adults are £20 in the South Stand (at one end of the stadium) and £28 or £35 in the side stands depending on where you want to sit. (Kids tickets are also available).

If 15 of us go as a group, we can all squash into the South Stand for £15 each.

This event is open to all, including family and friends. If you are interested in going, please indicate which game you would prefer, and whether you can make the other game in case we get enough people to secure the group deal. I will book the tickets towards the end of next week, so please let me know by Thursday (3rd Feb) which game you want to attend, and let me have a £15 deposit per person. Usual policy of no money, no ticket.

Reading Aces Christmas Tournament – Monday, 20th December 2010

The Club Committee is delighted to invite you all to the Reading Aces Christmas Tournament!

Where: Kendrick School, 41-43 London Rd, RG1 5BN, Reading
When: Monday, 20^th December
Start: 8.15 pm (please come earlier if you need a proper warm up)
Who: all players from Reading Aces Volleyball club
Dress code: Christmas style / Nativity (not compulsory)

Additionally, if you fancy a quick game against our juniors, you’re very welcome to join at 7.15 pm. Please let Linda know if you’re coming on l.t.bold@googlemail.com.

We may all still be feeling the effects of the recession, but at least one thing doesn’t change: Membership rates for this season are the same as last year’s for the third year running (at least!). If you’ve mislaid the e-mail from last year, it’s below.

INJURY

Should a player be unable to train and play because of injury (or other reasons e.g. pregnancy), then they should stop their payments from the next month onwards. For example, if I get injured at any point in January, then I will make my January payment but will stop paying from February onwards.

The membership fee is non-refundable.

PLEASE NOTE: It is each player’s responsibility to monitor their payments, not the club’s or the Treasurer’s.
