Only one team is in action this weekend. Our BVA Mens team are in a difficult home match against the unbeaten league leaders Maidenhead Mens 1 and Oxford Mens 1.

Both teams have an impressive combined record of 7-1, but coach Dave Fox is optimistic that our lads can do some damage.

See you all at Kendrick School for 16:00 tomorrow!

Two teams in action today, both at home.

At 12:30 the Aces NVL Div 2(S) team are playing against Bristol Ladies. Our visitors today got the better of last year’s Div 3 team, beating them 3-0 and 3-2. This year they are currently fifth in the table with a 4-3 record.

The second match of the afternoon starts at 16:00 and sees our BVA ladies team up against Farnborough Devils and Newbury Ladies. Farnborough are 2-2, with Newbury still looking for their first victory and Kay in action against Aces for her local club team (Newbury). Let’s hope we can keep it that way!!

If you have some time free, please come along to support – all noise is good!

Aces’ NVL2(S) ladies’ perfect start to the 2010-2011 season came to an end today with a 3-2 loss against Guildford International.

Earlier in the day, the team had enjoyed a fairly routine straight-sets victory over Plymouth. A full report and pictures will follow shortly.

Weekend preview 21/11

With both BVA teams on a week off, our NVL ladies are on the road for a challenging triangular fixture against Guildford International and Plymouth.

Guildford finished last season on identical points with our NVL 2 team (5-11); Aces finished in 9th with Guildford in 10th due to us winning one more set and them also losing one more set. In the two matches played, Aces won the first one (at home) fairly comfortably and looked set for an easy victory in the return fixture, but took their foot completely off the gas and ended up losing 3-2. (editor’s note: This couldn’t have had anything to do with the late arrival of Martyn and Natasha with their noise-making machinery, could it?!)

Plymouth finished last season 4th in Division 3(W) on 50 points, six ahead of our NVL 3 team. The teams split the two fixtures (3-1 and 0-3 respectively). So far this year our friends from Devon have beaten Sussex, Bath and New Forest Ladies at a cost of only two sets, but were picked apart by Bristol, 3-1 last week.

It’s only a short trip to the luxurious surroundings of the ACS (American Community School) in Cobham, so please come along and show your support.
